Notes from the shelter

Zeus has officially been neutered! Now he’s just waiting for his special people… and we DOOO mean special. After living outside for about a year, Zeus is still figuring out this whole “people” thing. He’s aloof, independent, and honestly? He’s probably not going to fall in love with you during a 15-minute kennel interaction. He’s going to need someone who understands that building a relationship with him is going to take time. And then there’s Zeus’s résumé. He has tried: Search & rescue — nope. Police academy — also nope. Scent work — well… he’ll go to the scent things. He just doesn’t seem to understand that he’s supposed to actually DO the scent work. He is, however, very good at being Zeus. When he gets excited, he does little circles. He may pace along the fence. He’s a little confusing, a little quirky, and definitely not your cookie-cutter dog. What we DO know: He does well with other dogs He is reportedly good with kids He enjoys his walks He needs mental stimulation and structure He needs people who are willing to let him build trust on his own timelinePAC also knows what his previous routine looked like, and they’re hoping to find a home that can continue it: 1.5-hour morning walk 30-minute training session in the afternoon 1.5-hour evening walkThat’s a LOT of exercise and structure, so Zeus is looking for someone who genuinely enjoys an active lifestyle and is willing to make him part of their daily routine. He may never be the dog who runs up to every stranger for hugs. He may never be the easiest dog in the room. But somewhere out there is someone who is going to look at this confusing, independent, slightly weird dude and say, “Yep. That’s my dog.” ??Are you Zeus’s special person?
