Pet safety guide

If your pet ever slips out, whoever finds them needs a way to recognize them and reach you. You can get both ready while they’re home with you.

Take a few good photos

Their face, whole body from the side, and distinctive markings help someone recognize your pet. Save current photos in a phone album, ready to share.

Give someone a way to reach you

A readable phone tag lets someone call you. A registered microchip with your current number helps if the collar comes off. The collar should fit well; for cats, choose quick-release.

Check your microchip

Save your shelter’s number

Save your local shelter or animal services number in your phone, so you know who to call if your pet goes missing.

Have their details handy

My pets keeps photos, description, vet and microchip details together, ready when you need them. You can give its care sheet to a sitter.

When the day is different

Help your pet stay secure when routines change:

  • Moving day: give them a quiet room with the door shut.
  • Guests or workers: close doors and latch gates behind them.
  • Fireworks or storms: bring them inside early, somewhere quiet.
  • Car trips: secure the carrier or attach the leash before opening doors.
  • New home or pet: start with one room, then introduce more space gradually.

If they ever go missing, we’ll help you search. My pet is missing
