Found or saw a pet?
Answer three quick questions and see if someone nearby is missing them.
In the first hour
Search where they were last seen
Walk the area with a recent photo and ask neighbors to check yards and garages.
Call nearby shelters and animal services
Give them a photo and description, and ask how often to check back.
Check your microchip contact details
Make sure the registry has your current phone number.
Keep them and yourself safe
Only get close if you feel comfortable, and if they come to you, keep them away from traffic. You don’t need to catch them to help. If they look hurt, call a vet clinic or animal services.
Check for a tag, then ask for a microchip scan
If they come to you, look for a tag with a phone number. If they’re safely with you, a vet, shelter or animal service can scan for a microchip.
Tell local animal services
Share a photo and where and when you found them. Keep your home address out of public posts.

Help with your pet search
Common questions while you search, like how we help you look, how to spread the word, and what to do if a pet looks like yours.
How can FindLostPets help me search?
We compare photos, looks, place and timing across posts from neighbors, shelters and rescues. A possible match is a lead for you to check, not proof.
How do I let others know my pet is missing?
Your recovery search starts privately. When you are ready to let others see your pet and send sightings or messages, check your photos and description, then choose Share publicly in your search. If we email you a link, open it to make your post public.
What should I do if a pet could be mine?
Open it and compare the photos, markings, place and dates. To ask for more details, use the options in your search. For a pet at a shelter or rescue, follow that organization’s steps to ask about or claim the pet.
What can people see about my post?
A public post shows photos, a description, the general area, dates, and status. Your email and phone number are never shown on it. Anything you type in the description can be seen and shared, so leave out contact details, home addresses, and microchip numbers.
Where does FindLostPets search?
We look at posts from neighbors and at the shelter and rescue listings we can reach. Coverage varies by area, so keep checking local shelters and community groups. Your pet may not be posted yet.
